The old town inside the walls offers many attractions: Romanesque churches, ancient squares, numerous museums, all walking distance from each ther  ! The surroundings are no less spectacular: for example the countryside of Capannori with its historic Villas surrounded by wonderful Italian gardens, the Romanesque churches that dot the hills and  Pietrasanta – the “Little Athens” – with its marble and bronze workshops and its permanent exhibitions of world famous artists.
Events – Lucca offers events and exhibitions in every season of the year. “Puccini e la Sua Lucca” festival stages a performance  every day of the year and in October 2017 it will reach an even wider audience  with the first edition of the Puccini World Festival. Lucca Summer Festival is now recognized as one of the most important international musical events in Italy; and  Lucca Comics & Games is one of the most important comics book and pop culture fairs in the world and every year, between October and Novemeber attract a peaceful invasion of cosplayers who bright up the streets of the city.   . And what about the surroundings?  We can mention the Carnival of Viareggio and its gigantic, colourful floats  and charming masks, the “Lucca Ancient Camellias Show”, which runs every year between Autumn and Spring in the territory of Capannori, the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, which every  July and August  brings to life the evocative open air theater on the banks of the lake where Puccini composed all his masterpieces.
