Located in the southwest corner of the area of production of Brunello di Montalcino, Castello Banfi is located 16 kilometers west of the small town of Montalcino, 70 km south of Siena.
The village, built in eighteen century next to a medieval fortress known as Castle of Poggio alle Mura to house the peasants who worked for noble owners, offers a refined and exclusive environment where today’s luxurious rooms and suites have been created. Set amid 2,850 hectares of precious vineyards, it is an ideal place to relax in the Tuscan countryside, in one of the most impressive and best preserved historical sites in the area; you can still appreciate the old Tuscan architectural forms that have remained unchanged, while the interiors have been carefully restored and embellished.
The “Borgo” offers 14 spacious rooms and suites of various sizes, locations and furnishings, all with furniture carefully selected, king size beds and magnificent views. Each room is equipped with satellite flat screen TV and radio, free wi-fi high speed, telephone, free minibar with soft drinks and light snacks, a Nespresso coffee machine. Each room is painted and decorated in a different color and decorated with artwork themed; many include a separate dressing area, desk and table for breakfast.
The bathrooms have a professional hairdryer, towel, large showers; many have a tub as an extra bathroom and bathroom amenities including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion made from Sangiovese grapes grown on the estate.
The property has 2 levels of restaurants: La Taverna, with its impressive vaulted ceiling serves traditional dishes of Montalcino and Tuscany, enhanced by the freshness and authenticity of local products and La Sala dei Grappoli, located in the shadow of historic Castello Banfi, welcomes guests in an elegant and refined atmosphere and serves a seasonal menu that lets you choose between the Tuscan cuisine, reworked with a modern conception and accompanied by excellent Banfi wines.
Tucked away in a quiet corner of the village, a charming arched hall was reserved to greet the morning with a buffet breakfast with fresh coffee, tea, baked homemade delicacies and other traditional dishes.
Very stimulating experience the spend half a day with the Chef, discovering the secrets of the famous Tuscan cuisine. In 4-hour course you will learn to prepare a 4-course lunch and guests can then enjoy along with a selection of Banfi wines.

The stay at Castello Banfi easily becomes a gastronomic and cultural adventure, including cooking classes, wine tasting, hiking and sightseeing in the vineyards, as well as simple relaxation.
The property features a heated swimming pool, located behind the western wall of the castle, overlooking lush vineyards; weather permitting, light lunch and drinks are served poolside. The reading room is a tranquil space comfortably furnished, with a fireplace, a small library of novels and travel diaries and tables with backgammon and chess. Gym with elliptical machine, stationary bike and free weights; beautiful garden pergola with spectacular views of the hills and the river valley. Occasionally they organize concerts of classical music, opera and jazz; possibility of hiking and biking, massage, yoga, private excursions.
The complex also includes the Wine Shop, which offers the full range of wines from the Castello Banfi estate for the purchase or tasting by the glass, along with extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey and fruit of the estate, local artisan pasta , biscuits, ceramics and woolen products; postcards, books, jewelry and wine-related equipment involved, glassware, souvenirs clothing, and framed prints.
The Museum – Giovanni F. Mariani Museum of Glass and Wine explores the relationship of these two elements from ancient times to the present day. The collection is housed on the ground floor of the castle tower and the Balsameria where in a cool, dark place, the product (Castello Banfi Etruscan Balsamic Dressing) fascinates and amazes.
Here one can breath wine, you can notice already upon arrival, with inviting bottles of the company that you can freely taste.
The bar Enoteca / Wine recreates the atmosphere of a real Tuscan wine shop, where, together with Banfi wines, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic dressing Etruscan and brandies, there are numerous local and handmade artisan food products. Here you have the ability to combine the prestigious wines produced at exceptional local sheep cheese and the classic Tuscan ham. Daily tours are conducted at the winery in the valley below.
